Ready. Get set. Relax! Welcome to The Cliff House Resort & Spa, the world famous luxury destination for pampering your mind, body and soul.

Since 1872, The Cliff House has sat upon seventy acres of land extending from Shore Road to historic Bald Head Cliff off the coast Maine. A brand new Spa House is your destination for wonderful full-body treatments including blueberry body wraps, dermo facials, hot stone massages and more.

Lots to Do
But if you think relaxation is all that's on the menu, think again. Located in beautiful Ogunquit, Maine, (which is Indian for "A beautiful place by the sea," The Cliff House Resort & Spa is just minutes from Kennebunkport, Wells and other wonder coastal towns filled exquisite restaurants, shopping districts and breathtaking landscape. The Cliff House got its name because 400 million years ago, Southwestern Maine was covered by sea, and the rivers poured sand and silt into it, creating the layers of rocks we see today.

A short drive and you'll find yourself in the famous Perkins Cove, where beautiful boats adorn the ocean and eclectic shops and restaurants line the tiny, narrow streets. You won't have much luck driving into to Perkins Cove, but the view is so lovely you won't want to anyway. Besides, Ogunquit is known as one of New England's most walkable resort towns, so your best bet is to park your car and walk into the Cove while admiring the big finds in little stores along the way.

Although there are many, another must visit place - if you can get a reservation - is Barnacle Billy's, a delightful little restaurant whose delicious menu has earned a huge following.

Accommodations
During our stay, we were lucky enough to be housed in The Cliff House's brand-new full-service Spa House which opened in May 2002. There we were absolutely spoiled with a lush extra large bedroom suite that could have easily accommodated our spa treatments, what with its comfortable King-sized beds, roomy shower, and gas-fired woodstoves. The sitting area featured a cushy couch and chair strategically facing both the television and the balcony overlooking the vast ocean. The traditional coffee, tea kitchen area was complemented by a not-so-traditional full sink, refrigerator and microwave. It even had three large shelves that held plates and silverware.

The Cliff House even had spa panties for those who could dare to go bare. The Cliff House has thought of everything for every type of customer. Their handicap-accessible facilities has won the praise of some of country's strictest handicap critics. Four swimming pools and Jacuzzis of various sizes, and some killer rocks just outside the resort gave us the biggest rush and supplied constant entertainment. Nothing beats the feeling of complete loss of control! And since our trip was professionally coordinated by Gray Marketing, we didn't miss a thing!

Cuisine
Dining at The Cliff House was as luxurious and relaxing as the incredible spa treatments. The spacious dining room boasted captivating views of the cliffs, and at times, as water volcanos exploded upwards, it resembled whipped cream was exploding against chocolate rocks.

The addition of largely Jamaican wait staff added just the right ambiance to already enchanting dining room. Their knowledge of how to relax and have a good time permeated the dining room and was infectious.

The lobster was a fresh and tender as one could expect from the state of Maine, only better, and no detail was left undone. The wine list was shockingly extensive as the menu, which included unbelievable dishes.

The Cliff House's Sunday Brunch is so fabulous, so famous, people come from as far as Boston to enjoy the delicious buffet of raspberry muesli, Grand Marnier French toast, made-to-order omelets, and other one of a kind dishes. But remember to get there early because the line extends all the way up the stairs.

All in all, life gets no better than a stay at the Cliff House Resort & Spa, where you'll find pampering your mind, body and soul as natural and rejuvenating as the spectacular oceanviews.

The history of The Cliff House reads like an enchanted fairytale that has been in the Weare family for generations. Today Kathryn Weare, the great-great granddaughter remains an active owner and highly respected member of the Ogunquit community.
