DC Livers, the managing editor for the Historical Black Press Foundation, has been selected to appear among the nations' WHO'S WHO from Washington, DC. The directory is currently in production. Livers, who is pictured on the left with Essence magazine's Susan Taylor (r), was notified by Strathmore Directories, Ltd. in March 2005 of the honor. Stratmore's 2005-2006 WHO'S WHO recognizes men and women who have achieved success in their respective fields.
"We believe your accomplishments, as high respected professional in your field, merit very earnest and intense consideration for inclusion," Strathmore's executive director Denise Parker wrote in the letter.
Did you know? Livers was an intern in the press and personal office for Massachusetts Senator Edward "Ted" Kennedy. In addition, Livers was an spanish production intern for Cable News Network (CNN). During this internship, Livers served as one fifth of CNN's important bilingual Telemundo unit, where she translated interviews from Spanish to English and vice versa.
A proud American, Livers takes her civic responsibility very seriously. Annually, she produces three national articles and makes them available for publication to three underprivileged newspapers. Her favorite causes are affordable housing, civil rights, and intellectual property protection. Currently, has been a member of the National Writers Union and an editorial board member of the PRSA-NCC chapter. But, her civic duties didn't stop there. She has been a volunteer for El Centro Hispano, the Hispanic Center, where she co-produced a bilingual health Spanish language video.
The Historical Black Press Foundation is currently producing the NUESTRO: Who's Who in Hispanic Media directory. HBPF also publishes the Black Press Yearbook: Who's Who in Black Media directory, Black Press Magazine, Minority Voter Magazine and other national publications.
